Getting a used car inspected by a mechanic may seem like overkill, but in the long run you may find it saves you a lot of extra expenses down the road – literally and figuratively. Whether you are purchasing your vehicle from a dealership or from a guy you met online, you should know for certain what you are buying rather than taking the seller’s word. While the outside and interior of the vehicle may look pristine, there could be significant underlying issues that could affect the value, or systems that aren’t working quite right.
There are a lot of tools available to potential buyers (i.e. Kelly Blue Book, Carfax, etc.) have better insight into what they are buying, but there is no denying the value in having a skilled mechanic – with whom you already have a relationship – perform a detailed pre purchase inspection of the car.
