They’ve shown off testing facility Castle Bravo. They’re going to universities and giving lectures on object recognition, mapping, and ghosting. They give media demonstrations, and even gave out en exclusive on Car Craft. They’re seemingly showing off so much about the company, yet the app itself is kept under tight wrap..
Why?? What differentiates the Waymo app from Uber or Lyft so much so that they won’t show a peep?
MY SPECULATION: 1) It’ll include Google’s recent demonstrated walking directions using the camera viewfinder for people to find the car. 2) Includes advertising in the app. 3) Might even include free content from e.g. Comcast much the same way planes offer free stuff.
I think people are expecting a ride app, maybe not so much an entertainment portal.
