one thing i have not hear discussed or found online is how autonomous cars will deal with motorcycles. having less idots driving around is definitely going to be good for riders but only if they are able to effectively detect and react to motorcycles. one thing that neads to be cleared up for me is stopping distance. my motorcycle can stop a lot faster than a car or truck, people get used to stopping behind cars and routinely dont leave enough room to stop behind motorcycles, do you think self driving cars will? how will that be determined?
what about detecting motorcycles in the first place. more people these days are relying on “blind spot detection” and not shoulder checking (another good reason to let a computer drive for some people) but as ive noticed, and later tested, these systems dont respond to motorcycles. this leaves me to question weather or not autonomous cars will end up merging into some motorcyclist.
