Choosing the Best Engine Oil For Winter

Motor needs to be the correct consistenancy and viscosity. The types of oils are measured by how thick or thin it is and determines how fast it flows. During , you need a lower viscosity to account for the slowing that happens in the harsher winter temperature.

The varieties of oil are given a rating code by the Society for Automotive Engineers (SAE) — 5W30 for example. The lower the W number, the better the oil will work in the colder winter temperature. We recommend using 5W oil for winter use. Need an oil change? Make an appointment to your local AAMCO Colorado to get your car ready for winter.
