Depends on how bad that gets. If everyone else thinks the same thing, guess what happens to throughput/speed on the highway? It craters.

If your commute goes from 30 to 35 or 40 or 45 minutes, maybe not a big deal. But what if everyone else is doing the same thing and now it’s 90 minutes? In many cases, that wouldn’t require tripling the number of cars, if the highway is already close to capacity, even a fairly modest increase in users can cause huge changes in speed.
