There’s also a new two-tone paint option, in a total of nine combinations, with an additional extra clear-coat option for that endless, mirrorlike depth you get from truly exceptional paint jobs. (It’ll be interesting to see how good this paint looks up close in Geneva.) New 20-inch wheels complete the look, and if you liked the S650 Cabriolet’s wheels, you can get those here too.
Inside, there are new interior color options: a brown-black and a beige-black, with various topstitching options. Otherwise, the Mercedes-Maybach is unchanged; the engine options are still a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 and a biturbo V12 at 6.0 liters, called the S560 and S650 respectively.
Our take? It’s handsome and also conservative, much like the entire Mercedes-Maybach S-Class strategy as a whole. And yet, we still wish for more separation between the S-Class’ Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes-Maybach alter egos outside. Even so, it’s the fanciest S-Class you can get, and that’s saying something. If you want one, after its Geneva debut the S-Class will go on sale in summer 2018 in the U.S.
